This move is primarily based on a nightmare Phoenix has at the beginning of ''Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All'', in which he finds himself standing on a cliffside, surrounded by darkness. Suddenly, a large silhouetted version of the judge with red eyes appears, and scolds Phoenix for unmentioned wrongdoings, before declaring he's no longer worthy to be a defense attorney. The nightmare judge slams his gavel onto Phoenix, at which point he wakes up from the nightmare. This move could also be seen as a reference to the responsibility of the judge in court as a whole, and how most of the time, the judge seems to be working against Phoenix and his case.
