Black Knight (漆黒の騎士, Jet Black Knight) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the ninth fighter from the Fire Emblem series.
Robert Clotworthy, who voiced Black Knight in Fire Emblem Heroes, reprises his role as the character, using voice lines recycled from Fire Emblem Heroes.
Moveset
- Black Knight has a form of passive armor known as Blessed Armor. At lower percentages, weak attacks will not make him flinch. Black Knight's passive armor is unique in that if he is healed, he does not regain any of his armor, and attacks that he would normally be able to power through at the percentage he was healed to will still affect him.
Note: All numbers are listed as base damage, without the 1v1 multiplier.
| Name | Damage | Description | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Neutral attack | — | 9% | Swings his sword in front of him in a quarter-circle upwards arc. | |
| Forward tilt | — | 11.5% | Swings his sword directly forward, at level with his chest. | |
| Up tilt | — | 13% | Swings his sword above his head, starting and ending behind him. | |
| Down tilt | — | 6% | Swings his sword at the ground while crouched, slamming it against the floor. | |
| Dash attack | — | 2.4% (first hit), 9.7% (second hit) | Swings his sword in front of him, spins around, and then slashes again. The initial slash sends him forward a small amount. | |
| Forward smash | — | 19% | Slashes downward in front of him, his sword wreathed in blue flames. Triggers the special zoom-in effect on hit. | |
| Up smash | 19% | Slashes upwards in an arc in front of him, ending above his head. | ||
| Down smash | 14% (first hit), 21% (second hit) | Crouches down and slashes in front of him, and then turns his torso to slash behind him as well. The second hit is more powerful than the first. | ||
| Neutral aerial | — | 9% | Spins around horizontally while holding his sword out. Hits on both sides of him. | |
| Forward aerial | — | 14% | Slashes in a downward arc in front of him. | |
| Back aerial | — | 16% | Stabs his swords directly behind him. This is Black Knight's quickest aerial. | |
| Up aerial | — | 13% | Stabs his sword directly upwards. Not much range outside of the sword itself. | |
| Down aerial | — | 14% | Pauses in midair for a moment, and then stabs directly downwards while falling, similar to Sephiroth's down air. Hitting the opponent with the sword right as Black Knight begins to descend is a spike. | |
| Grab | — | Black Knight reaches forward, holding the enemy above the ground by their neck. | ||
| Pummel | 1.8% | Stabs his sword into the opponent's chest. | ||
| Forward throw | 2% (initial slam), 6% (throw) | Slams the opponent into the ground, then stabs his sword into them and drags them along the ground before throwing them forward. | ||
| Back throw | 4% | Turns around, pauses for a second to wind up the throw, and then throws the opponent behind him with one hand. | ||
| Up throw | 4% | Tosses the opponent into the air with one hand, sending them directly upwards. | ||
| Down throw | 9% | Crushes the opponent's neck, the force of which sends them outwards. | ||
| Forward roll Back roll Spot dodge Air dodge |
— | — | ||
| Techs | — | — | ||
| Floor attack (front) Floor getups (front) |
7% | Spins around, slashing his sword in a circle around him as he gets up. | ||
| Floor attack (back) Floor getups (back) |
7% | Spins around, slashing his sword in a circle around him as he gets up. | ||
| Floor attack (trip) Floor getups (trip) |
7% | Spins around, slashing his sword in a circle around him as he gets up. | ||
| Edge attack Edge getups |
10% | Pulls himself back up onto the stage, slashing his sword at the opponent's feet as he does so. | ||
| Neutral special | Alondite Beam | 11% (sword slash), 14% (explosion), 9.2% (projectile) | Slashes his sword downward, causing an explosion in front of him and sending a blue crescent-shaped projectile forward. All three parts of this move have their own hitboxes, and hitting an opponent at close-range with all three parts causes them to take a total of 34.2%. | |
| Side special | Dancing Eclipse | 3% (hits 1-4), 4% (hit 5) | A series of five slashes directly in front of Black Knight. Black Knight will only perform each slash after the first if the player continues pressing the special move button. The first and fourth slashes cause Black Knight to move forward a bit. Hitting all 5 slashes adds up to a total of 16%. | |
| Up special | Warp Powder | Black Knight uses warp powder to teleport in the direction the control stick is being held. Black Knight is invincible while teleporting, but the move does not have a hitbox, and if his destination leaves him on the ground, there is a short window after he reappears where he cannot act. | ||
| Down special | Distant Counter | 1.2x (sword), 7.2% (projectile) | Black Knight takes a counterattack stance. If hit during this time, he slashes forward at the opponent, knocking them away. If the opponent is out of range of his sword when he counterattacks, whether that be via a projectile or an otherwise long-reaching attack, he will instead fire a fast-moving projectile straight forwards. | |
| Final Smash | Pitch-Black Luna | 9.4% (initial hit), 21.6% (finishing blow) | The camera zooms in on Black Knight, the screen darkening as he says "Will you survive?". He stabs his sword forward, and if his sword makes contact with an opponent, the screen goes black as the only thing visible is the glowing outline of Black Knight and his sword trail as he slashes his sword downward with immense force, launching the opponent away. Has extremely powerful knockback. | |
